I painted this one from a photo I took in July, from the foot of F Street. It was between 9:30 and 10:00 at night, but the sky wasn't quite dark yet -- we get nice long days on the north coast in the summer.

"POMEGRANATES", Oil Painting by Kathy O'Leary

This still life is 8" x 8", on canvas covered panel.
Pomegranates ripen in the early Autumn. When I choose an object for a still life this time of year this is one of my favorites. So when my daughter in-law gave me a bunch from their bush in Southern California I decided I needed to paint them (before I ate them). I used a black plate and green surface to complement and accentuate their beautiful color and shape. SOLD

A beautiful region with big rocks, oak and pine trees with lots of rolling hills and grass lands. The late Autumn light highlights the golds and oranges of both the grasses and the changing oaks. COASTAL PINES & CHAPARRAL, Oil Painting by Kathy O'Leary

This is a scene from a recent trip to the Mendocino Coast of Northern California. Just a mile inland from the ocean are coastal hills often thick with large old pines and dense chaparral. The coastal moisture interspersed with sun creates a beautiful softness to the atmosphere which I tried to capture here. The painting is 8 x 10, on canvas covered wood panel. SOLD

"59 First Avenue"--by Amy Stewart--SOLD

It's been fun trying to track down the exact location of each of these paintings. In this case it was easy--the address of the 30-minute photo shop on the left was printed right on the awning. The shop in the center is a Vietnamese fast food restaurant called New Saigon, and then there's a grocery store on the corner. A typical East Village street scene.

This one is 8 x 10 on panel.

'Rooster Afternoon' by Rachel K Schlueter

oil on 5"x8" panel, alla prima. This year has been for the birds. Without planning to paint birds the occasion keeps arising so I go with the flow, I came across these Rooster photos my husband Stock took years ago. I found this rooster a handsome inspiration to paint.

EVENING IN THE VALLEY Oil Painting by Kathy O'Leary

This 8 x 10 oil on canvas panel painting is a scene from a recent trip to the Heart K Ranch near Taylorsville, California. It is a region containing an historical ranch, and the traditional home lands of the Mountain Maidu Indians. To protect it from subdivision the land was purchased by the Feather River Land Trust, and is now protected in perpetuity. I went to a fundraiser/paint out there Sept. 26. This painting was done from a scene I witnessed when the sun was setting behind the western end of the valley. I couldn't resist the golds of the grasses & the deep rich colors of the trees and mountains. SOLD
