JOINING THE HERD; MONGOL HORSE, GUN-GALUUT by Susan Fox $60

"Joining the Herd; Mongol Horse, Gun-Galuut" 8x10" oil on canvasboard- this is a Mongol horse that I photographed in Mongolia during my trip there in July and is one of the domestic horses that the nomads ride, not the true wild Przewalski's Horse or takhi. Summer was in full swing and there were many birds, including endangered cranes, in the wetland in the background.

I'm obviously on a Florida kick--here's another one, this time from a trip to Miami. This little alley was full of cafes and all lit up at night--a very festive scene. Lots of New York paintings to come!

VINEYARD ROAD IN EARLY MORNING LIGHT, by Kathy O'Leary

This is a scene from a recent trip to California's Napa Valley. The vineyards are particularly beautiful in the early mornings and late afternoons and evenings. This painting reflects the deeper colors and the almost violet atmosphere that occurs from the sun filtering through the moist morning air surrounding the vines. This painting is in oil, on 8 x 10 canvas covered
panel. SOLD

COASTAL PINES, Oil painting by Kathy O'Leary

I painted this scene to highlight these beautiful, sculptural Coastal Pines I found sitting atop a grassy knoll on a recent trip to the Mendocino coast in Northern California. It was a beautiful day with only the occasional coastal clouds floating by. The painting is oil, 8 x 10 on canvas covered panel. SOLD

This little painting features a cafe on the Boulevard des Capucines, just a few blocks from the first Impressionist Exhibition in Paris. It's from a series of work I did based on a month-long trip to Paris with my good friend Micki Flatmo, in the Fall of 2006.

VINEYARD AT DUSK, Oil Painting by Kathy O'Leary

Traveling to the Napa Valley this past week I spent an evening photographing the vineyards in the late Summer light. With this painting I tried to capture the rich yet subtle colors created by the late light and moist air of an evening in the vineyards. This painting is 8 x 10 on canvas covered panel. SOLD

CALIFORNIA COMPLEMENTS, Oil Painting by Kathy O'Leary

This is a scene I recently saw on a trip to the Napa Valley in Central California. It caught my eye because of the deep values of the oaks coupled with the subtle oranges of the grassy hills, juxtaposed against the blue of the distant mountain range. The oranges and blues are 'complementary' colors and thus inspired the title of this piece. This painting is 8 x 10, on a canvas covered panel. SOLD

'Calico Kitten' oil by Rachel K Schlueter

Oil on 9"x12" panel. Painted alla prima from a photo I took of my own dear Siddhie, a calico through and through. If you've ever lived with a calico cat you know that they are different, a domestic breed that tends to climb the walls and be upside down alot, they're very social, sweet and charming you couldn't ask for a more entertaining cat. Thanks for visiting.

SPRING EXPLOSION-SIERRA FOOTHILLS, Oil Painting by KATHY O'LEARY

This painting was done on location during a California Art Club week long paint out this past April. By invitation of the Sequoia Riverlands Land Trust, we painted the foothills & ranches of the Southern Sierra foothills not often seen by the public. It was a spectacular year for the wild flowers. The valleys were covered with white, gold, & purple flowers scattered among the chartreuse leaved oaks. But most amazing were the hills. They were covered with red/orange swaths of California Poppies. The profuse bloom was said to be a 1 in 50 year event. This painting is 8 x 10 on canvas covered panel. SOLD

"Tropical Boat House" by Amy Stewart--SOLD

5 x 7 inch oil on 1/2 inch board.Price includes Priority Mail shipping within the United States. International shipping runs an additional $5-$10 depending on the country--please ask. Post a comment or email amy at amy stewart dot com if you're interested.

There's something so compelling about these little tropical scenes--the palm trees, the ocean, the sky, the little bits of architecture--they're lots of fun to paint!

I need to give you a warning about this one if you're thinking of buying it.
Although these 1/2 panels have dovetail slots in the back to allow you to hang it on a nail, I accidentally painted this one upside-down on the board, so that the slot that you could use to hang it is on the wrong end of the painting. Such things happen. It is still very easy to attach hardware to the back and hang it unframed if you prefer.

IDAHO COTTONWOODS by Susan Fox SOLD

"Idaho Cottonwoods", 10x8", oil on canvasboard- I photographed these cottonwoods as I traveled Goodall's Cutoff (Idaho State Route 20) while on the way home from a trip to Yellowstone National Park. It's a great scenic route across Idaho that runs north of the interstate.

OCTOBER SHADOWS, Oil Painting by Kathy O'Leary

This vineyard scene is from my favorite vineyard, Eaglepoint Ranch in the Ukiah foothills in Northern California. I'm not sure of the varietal, but in Autumn these vines turn gold in the afternoon light. I love painting with complementary colors and the yellow/chartreuse leaves were a great complement to the red and violet shadows. This 8 x 10 painting is oil on canvas covered panel. SOLD

It's good to be back! I've been in New York for 3 weeks, and while I thought a lot about painting, and took a million pictures, I am only just now home and getting back into my routine. So here's a painting I finished just before I left: a poolside guest house in an island off Florida. Ahhhhh...
