Silver Teapot by Frances Kuta

Whoa...wow...today just got away from me and I forgot to post my blog. Andrew thanks for posting too!
Last week I had a model "no show" and decided to set up this little still life of a silver teapot. I'm still playing with the Zorn palette and on this painting I used Ivory Black (instead of Blue/Black), Vermillion Red Deep, Yellow Ocre Pale and Titanium White. The Ivory Black results in better greens and yellows. I love to paint silver because it takes on so many colors of the items around it. This one is 8" x 10" oil on linen.

  1. I know what you mean about the day getting away from yah. My Tuesday was so out of control that I didn't get to posting until Wednesday Morn.

Your painting turned out swell! I like the subtle tones. Silver is very fun to paint with. The two other still lives I did at your place with food placed on your silver platter are among my favorites for the same reason of reflected colors.

My version of this still life got dramatically overhauled once I got home. I got rid of the whole background...

    Happy T-day!

  2. Beautiful, the silver looks so soft, I love the handling of the flowers too.
