NAPA HILLSIDE, Oil paintng by Kathy O'Leary

This past weekend I had to make a one day trip to the Napa Valley. Spring is just beginning to show its face in the chartreuse grasses, flowering fruit trees and wild mustard scattered through fields of grape vines. With all the vineyard's beauty this scene of barely leafing out oaks covering the hill crest against the pale blues and greens of the hills behind is what really captured my attention. The color and values in Winter and early Spring are very close in this part of California. Scenes like this offer a subtle beauty for me that I love to try to capture on canvas. This is a little larger than usual 8 x 16, but the painting required a good horizontal orientation. Its done on panel. SOLD
