Why is it so difficult to paint family? I sweat bullets when I attempt to paint a sister, brother, niece or nephew. It is one exercise where I really need to practice the "drawing on the right side of the brain" concept....focusing on unrecognizable shapes and their relationship to each other.
This is a sketch of my brother in law's father. I like the feel of this painting but when I paint the larger version I'll have to 'sweat bullets' to get a good likeness. This little sketch is oil on canvas panel 5" x 7". Thanks for looking!
nice paint handling, limited palette and gesture, perfect!
ReplyDeleteYes! Rachel said it all.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look labored at all. I like the expression and the pose. The little version looks perfect and the big version will look great!
