Garden of Gladiolas,Lights and Shadows by Theresa Oats

Our garden looks magical in the morning when the early sun back lights the
flowers and leaves. I wonder if it was illumination through translucent flower petals that originlly inspired the concept for stained glass windows. I painted this from life over a period of several years and did some finishing strokes in my studio.
Painted with oils on a 36x24 inch canvas. Completed in 2011
with sessions in my studio.

  3. This is just beautiful. I think dappled light is so lovely and so hard to do. You have captured what I love about dappled light and taken it to a wonderful new level.
