One of the greatest clowns was hobo clown, Emmett Kelly. As a boy he grew up in the mid-west with a talent for drawing and an ambition to be an artist. He stared his clowning career around 1917 Kelly had a proper easel and used his drawing skills as part of his circus act. My kind of clown. I'll have to add this portrait to my artist homage series.
