Liscomb Slough Ox Bow by Andrew Daniel

Liscomb Slough Ox Bow by Andrew Daniel
12" x 12" (30cm x 30cm) oil on wood panel
available through First Street Gallery

Sometimes, I'm struck by the rhythms in landscape. The sloping curve of this bank felt like it welcomed me into the painting, creating fluid motion in the foreground, that worked as a counter balance to the staccato rhythm of the trees along the horizon.

This piece is going to be in a show dedicated to the theme of the Humboldt Bay at the First Street Gallery in October. Some of our Lost Coast Daily Painters will be represented in the show. Besides myself, there will be bay landscapes from Stock Schlueter, Kathy O'Leary and Mimi Laplant in the back gallery. In the front Gallery Cindy Hooper will have 6 video installations. I know there is also a ceramicist building a large scale model of the bay and a photographer who also is dealing with bay issues.

The opening will be on Saturday October 4th during Arts Alive! from 6-9pm.
