The petals on a gladiola I'd been painting eventually faded expect for these two florets. I set their stem in a small vase of water then set it on my large easel. I liked the relationship of the soft supple glowing petals against the 90 degree angles of the wood and steel easel and painted them on a 5x7 inch prepared panel.
