'OTTO' by Theres Oats

'OTTO ' painted in my studio 2003
oil on canvas
24x18

Curtis Otto was a terrific artist and and strong 'personality'.  When you ran into him, he would instantly 'talk art'.  Never the weather, the state of his health, or the price of gas. His entire home was a studio and show space. Come to think of it, he often utilized his front yard in the same manner.
If he saw you (wether he knew you or not) walking down the sidewalk, he would likely ask for your opinion about the painting he was working on. He loved hearing the opinions of others
and often tried their ideas.  I always enjoyed these qualities in him.
He will be missed by many.

  1. What a terrific portrait! Looks like you've caught him in mid-thought about something art. Also makes me want to punch a hole in my roof for a skylight.

  2. Thanks for sharing this painting and your thoughts about Curtis. I may add, that anytime Curtis looked at my work, that he did just that - he looked, and he shared his thoughts with me. I too, will miss him, and I am grateful that I had the chance to get to know him and his art.
