"Lavender Reflection" by Andrew Daniel
Oil on wood panel 9" x 12"
I painted this as a demonstration in my class last week. It was a small class, 3 students, so I was able to focus on my work off and on. It was one of the first times painting from life that I had started with a color idea, and tuned the whole process to my initial idea. The hills in the background had a slight purple tone, and I really leaned on that, filling it with a rich pastel purple, along with a reflected purple on the bottom. It was really fun! Felt like the choice was poetic, enhancing something I liked until it became the subject of the painting.
