Copying a Master

Since I never seem to finish paintings, I thought I aught to at least share what I'm doing in my studio, because I am working... This week I'm copying a painting by Jack Wilkinson Smith.

I Have felt like I needed to take myself back to school, Smith seemed like the right teacher. It has been really challenging, trying to push my colors and values and to get things to flow in the effortless manner that he does. This has been truly a master class. I might try an Edgar Payne next...

  1. You've already got something way right because I saw your paintings done at Shelter Cove - wow!
