EARLY SPRING SYCAMORES, by Kathy O'Leary

I'm traveling this month, painting and photographing in the hills and agricultural areas
of Central California and on the coast all the way down to San Juan Capistrano. The paintings I post this month will be one's painted on location while I am traveling. This painting is a scene along Hwy 152 (Pacheco Pass). It's a region with Oak covered hills and valleys, always beautiful in any season, any light. Its Spring, so the Oaks are just leafing out, and the hills are covered with a brilliant green carpet. Only the Sycamores remain leafless. In this scene I like the contrast between the lush green of the hills, trees, shrubs, and the tall pale, almost violet, Sycamores. This painting is oil on 8 x 10 canvas covered panel. SOLD
