Jim in '99 by Theresa Oats
My husband Jim posed under my studio sky light in 1999.He's obviously thinking about something pretty strongly, possibly a painting he was working on. I painted in oils on canvas paper then mounted it on board. I like canvas paper because it doesn't absorb the oil. The paint stays on top which leaves the colors with their original vibrancy. This image is a detail of the painting, there's more background and a bit more of his torso in the actual work. This portion measures 20x18, the painting measures 24x20 in it's entirety.

Great likeness, the flesh tones are really exceptional. What you are saying about the canvas paper is interesting. I'll have to think about that next time I use some...
ReplyDeleteHandsome portrait!
ReplyDeleteThe light you captured in this painting is wonderful! Beautiful work Terry.
