This is a painting of a scene along the Trinity River, in California as one drives east from the coast to Weaverville, and beyond on Hwy 299. The road runs along this beautiful river for much of the drive. I've pulled off many times to look at this scene and photograph it, and finally decided to paint it. The part that always catches my eye are the layers of mountains on the right in shadow and the layers of sunlit slopes on the left. This painting measures 8 x 10 and is done on canvas covered panel.
