Afternoon Rest by Frances Kuta

I've been working on a collection of Victorian paintings over the last 7 show opens June 4th at Highland Art Center in Weaverville, Ca. I posed models in my studio in's been a challenge...and fun! This is the first time I've concentrated on a body of work with a theme in mind. It is interesting what develops along the way. This is one of my favorites. 12" x 16" oil on linen.

  1. also one of my favorites of yours, beautiful green in the drapes really enhance the design. love the simplicity of the feet

  2. What a beautiful piece. Love how you painted the
figure so languidly as well as the dress and feeling of the room.
Also love what's going on out the window!

  3. I don't think I've ever seen a red-green harmony as lovely as this

  4. Sounds as though it's been an incredible fun series. I'm envious!
The shadows and lights in that white skirt are beautiful.
