Westmoreland by Theresa Oats

Our Westmoreland bush produces floppy roses which start our with warm
petals becoming cooler as the inside petals open up. The blossoms are large which
inspired me to approach this work as a portrait, painting 1 blossom straight on and
using artistic license to add another layer of petals on the bottom for a bit of a
collar effect.
Painted on location in oils on a 7x5 inch prepared panel.

  1. Very nice Terry, The colors are so rich in the shadows and so vibrant in the lighter parts; especially the yellows!
