"River Sketch #3", pastel by Ralphie Hendrix
Sometimes when I need to drive up to Eureka early in the morning, I see the most beautiful light reflecting off the hills onto the surface of the river. This is a sketch I did of one of those moments. This painting is 4-1/2 X 6-1/2 matted and set in a blonde frame. To bid CLICK HERE

View of Trinidad California From the South painting by Andrew Daniel
This is one of the places that John Crater took me too a few weeks ago during that spell of warm weather we had in October. I Thought I would try a larger painting, because the scene I wanted to capture was so huge. It was a lot of fun painting large after all of those small ones I had been doing.
This is an original oil painting on Baltic Birch Plywood. It is signed by me, Andrew Daniel. The panel measures 12" x 20" (304cm x 508cm).
This painting is available in my online shop.

Jim at his Studio Window by Theresa Oats
I met my husband Jim in June of 1984 and did this pastel drawing of him in 1985.
He is sitting by his studio window reading an art book with his dog sleeping at his
feet. The sensitive expression on his face is my favorite aspect of this portrait.
This image measures 15''x11'' and is in our personal collection.

"Sun Break Thru", by Ralphie Hendrix
Alicia and I were down in Aptos visiting fellow artists Dee and Laura Boyles a few years ago. We were out scouting early one morning down near Moss Landing heading toward Elkhorn Slough when we came around a bend and this sight stopped me. The fog was burning off early and sunlight was starting to warm the air. It was a good day and a wonderful visit. This painting is 4-1/2 by 6-1/2 matted and set in an 8 X 10 cherry wood frame. Cows and Fog painting by Andrew Daniel
I stopped along the road headed out from Fortuna to route
36. When I saw the morning light hitting the grass in this field as the
cows grazed. Looked just like something you'd see in a painting!

"Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!"
Sold
Oil by Rachel K Schlueter
Oil on 5x5" panel. My first doughnut painting! For years I have wanted to paint doughnuts and pastries, now I find it's quite uplifting so I've named my new series "Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!" in English; Let the Good times Roll! The term is Cajun, used for Mardi Gras.

"Down Near Pismo", pastel by Ralphie Hendrix
When I was a kid living in L.A., occasionally we would take a long drive up to Pismo Beach. Mind you, this is back in the 40's. The little town of Pismo Beach had a gas station, small market and a couple of clam shacks that you could get fresh clams, chowder etc. That's the main reason my dad would take that long drive, fresh clams. The place has sure changed. That whole area is practically all city now. I liked it better when there was just a couple of clam shacks there. This is an 8 X 8 matted and set in a black matt frame 12 X 12. To bid CLICK HERE

Allen Pond with Fog at the Arcata Marsh painting by Andrew Daniel
I've been fascinated by the morning for lately. It gives me the opportunity to paint multiple color schemes in the same painting. Muted grays and whites in the background and vibrant greens in the fore. The marsh is a great spot to explore these ideas.
This painting measures 5" x 7"(13cm x 18cm) and is painted in oil paint on a piece of Baltic Birch wood panel that measures 1/2" deep. It has a simple homemade slat wood frame.

'Jim' by Theresa Oats
My husband Jim is the love of my life and a subject for painting I never tire of. Jim is
sitting by the window in my previous studio, wearing a sweater I gave him for Christmas.
His ear is not actually pierced. He described
an interesting dream that occurred to him in the night, a wonderful and spiritual
dream. One of the details was a cobalt blue earring in his left ear.
I painted on 18x14 inch stretched linen with oils over a stretch of winter days in 1995.
It's not for sale but wanted to show it to you.

"By Redwood Creek", pastel by Ralphie Hendrix
Here in Southern Humboldt, we don't get the bright reds and orange foliage like they get in the Northeast. But on the other hand, we do get bright yellows turning to orange and purples that are wonder to see, yet a challenge to paint. This is my favorite time of the year. But it looks like we're having a very short fall and possibly a long winter. This 7 X 5 image is matted and set in a cherry wood frame. To bid CLICK HERE

Field with Fences in the Arcata Bottoms painting by Andrew Daniel
I was driving through the Arcata Bottoms last week when I became attracted to the bright green of the grasses in the cattle fields. While composing the image, the repeating rhythm of the fences jumped out at me. So I thought it might be worth experimenting with them.
This painting measures 5" x 7"(13cm x 18cm) and is painted in oil paint on a piece of Baltic Birch wood panel that measures 1/2" deep. It has a simple homemade slat wood frame.
It is available here in my online shop.

Coral Petals of the Amaryllis by Theresa Oats
This painting was in an exhibit years ago and my husband was so happy it hadn't been purchased I gave it him as a gift.
I painted this when we worked in the 'C' Street studio building in a north light window.
It was the month of a rainy cold January. The coral petals of the amaryllis lent a tropical
touch to my studio and a translucent rich color palette for my brush and paint to emulate as I worked wet into wet oil paint.

My Griz by Rachel K Schlueter
SOLD
Oil on 5x6" panel. I took this photo, the poor Griz is a stuffed trophy bear at a sporting goods store in Sacramento, anyhow, this bear was so amazing to see, so very impressive. I like to work from my own photos but getting close to a Griz is probably not going to happen, so I got a couple good shots to work from.

"Somewhat Tamed". pastel by Ralphie Hendrix
I am trying out a new paper as I can't seem to get my usual as it's been on backorder since August. This is actually an experiment to see if this paper can take the abuse that my usual surface gets. I think the color is brighter but it doesn't hold the pastel. Just something different. The photo for this painting was taken down near San Luis Obispo. It is a 6 X 8 image matted and set in a 9 X 12 walnut wood frame. To bid CLICK HERE

Afternoon Light in the Arcata Bottoms painting by Andrew Daniel
Last Saturday, I ran out to catch the afternoon light on the fields by my house. I rarely get to paint at this time of day just as the sun is getting ready to set. The colors are so intense and warm it was so exciting!
This painting measures 5" x 7"(13cm x 18cm) and is painted in oil paint on a piece of Baltic Birch wood panel that measures 1/2" deep. It has a simple homemade slat wood frame.
You can find it for sale in my online shop.
