Lora's Kitchen by Theresa Oats

The woman in this painting is Lora Jabot. I painted Lora (as she posed tirelessly) in her kitchen which she had transformed with her sense of 'retro' style, color choices and taste in eclectic furnishings. She is wearing an elegant robe which as I recall dates back to the 1950's. She played music popular in the 1940's to the delight of her canary 'Beethoven'(who sang along with the
melodies) and me. Painting Lora , her pets and her kitchen was a wonderful experience, and now a memory I cherish. Painted on site, Oil on canvas, 40x30 inches, wet into wet paint, wet into dry paint.

  1. This piece is quite charming! Lora is obviously quite a character with her bow, dress, and decor. The cat is a great detail which evokes the sense of Sunday morning rest. Your colors respond to the mood an subject perfectly!

  2. It sounds like a delightful experience and I agree with Andrew; it produced a charming painting. The interplay of color is delightful.
